The resin for waterborne coatings is hydrated in three ways:

　　①The resin for waterborne coatings is hydrated through three ways: introducing amine group (or carboxyl group) into the resin molecular chain, neutralizing with acid (or alkali) to form cationic (or anionic) resin, which can be dissolved or solubilized in water.

　　②A certain number of strong hydrophilic groups are introduced into the resin molecular chain, such as carboxyl, hydroxyl, amino, ether and amide groups, which are self emulsified and dispersed in water.

　　③Emulsion was polymerized with emulsifier or emulsified to form water laxable emulsion. Sometimes several methods are used together to improve the water dispersion and the stability of water dispersion liquid.

　　Although water is used as the lax medium for waterborne coatings, a small amount of alcohol ether organic cosolvent needs to be added in order to improve the water solubility of resin, adjust the viscosity of waterborne coatings and the leveling of film.
